Trona, CA footage

Took some shots of the town to put as a section in the missions video. Here are some of the clips, edited together quickly just for fun:

Here I am over the weekend on a missions video shoot right next to Death Valley. Missionary Mike Campbell is getting ready to head out on deputation in order to raise support to get to the field of Rwanda.

It was a great weekend trip and we got some good footage to incorporate in to the video. I will post the presentation as well as a link to his website when complete.

Panasonic Lumix Gh1

You may not think much of it from the outward appearance, but the Panasonic Lumix GH1 is a very powerful visual tool. It is a multi-talented digital camera - taking pictures at 12 megapixels, as well as video at full resolution HD (1920x1080p).

The video functionality is of course what caught my attention when I first heard about this camera a few months ago. It records at 24p in 1080 mode - giving you a very film-like look. In the 720p mode it records 60p, that when converted, gives you a true 40% slow motion.

UPS just delivered mine yesterday afternoon and so naturally I was up for the better part of the night figuring out the workflow. Here are just a couple shots to give you a glimpse of the camera's quality:

New Tutorial Coming Soon

Sorry, I have been a bit busy lately. Last week our church had a booth at our state fair. We saw over 100 people saved. It was awesome! I had a chance to lead 5 people myself.

Needless to say, that is the most important thing we can do - lead others to Christ. But this week is freed up a little and there should be a new Vegas tutorial up in a couple days. Hang tight!

Upcoming Tutorials - I NEED YOUR INPUT!!!

Thank you to all of you who have frequented this blog so far and for the good feedback that you have given me. I want to encourage you to please post some of your future questions on the blog rather than e-mail them to me. This way other people can read them and perhaps have one of their own questions answered.

This weekend I plan to have another tutorial up on Sony Vegas. Please give me any suggestions on what you would like to see. Also, if you're a Mac user I am considering putting up some tutorials on using Final Cut Pro.

Check back soon!

Documentary Production Set for Summer, 2010

I've always wanted to tackle a feature-length production. Logistically this has been an impossibility for me as of yet, but the ever-evolving world of technology has made it possible for independent filmmakers to have access to affordable alternatives to big-budget production tools.

Next summer I am going to be heading over to Papua New Guinea for a month's time to follow a missionary family around with a camera. Not everyone will have the opportunity to visit the foreign mission field and see what the day-to-day life of a missionary is like. I hope to be able to capture a little bit of that and bring it back to the states with me, and edit it together in a compelling way.

I'd appreciate your prayers as this project is in preproduction now.

More details to follow....

I ENCOURAGE YOU TO FOLLOW!
